Weddings

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. This will be one of the most important days of your life and will involve a great deal of planning and preparation. There is often so much that needs to be done, that sometimes it can seem rather overwhelming. However, you are not alone, since there is always help at hand in some form or another. Central to the celebrations is, of course, the wedding service itself. This too can sometimes take a lot of planning. However, with a few simple steps this should not be too difficult.

It is our policy not to re-marry in church those who have been divorced. However, if you have been divorced, but would still like to come to church for a service, we are more than happy to hold a special Blessing Service in Church following a Civil Marriage.

Before a wedding can take place in church, Banns of Marriage normally need to be read on three Sundays at the
main act of worship in the parish churches of both the bride and groom. This can be arranged by contacting the parish priests of both churches (if they are different.)

If you would like to get married at Christ Church Staincliffe, at least one of you needs to qualify under any one of
the following:

- You have been living in the Parish for six months.

- You have been on the Electoral Role of Worshippers at the Church for six months.

- You were Baptised or prepared for Confirmation here.

- Your Parents or Grandparents were married here.

- You have, at any time in the past, lived in the Parish for a period of six months.

- You have at any time, attended services here for a period of six months.

- That one of your Parents, at any time after you were born,
has lived in the Parish for six months.

- That one of your parents, at any time after you were born, h
as attended services here for a period of at least six months.
